Giles Co. church provides food and water to those affected by the storm

PEARISBURG, Va. (WVVA) – After flooding affected much of Giles County, one church is doing what they can to help those in need and those who help them.

The congregation of Pearisburg Church of God provides a ministry of service to their community by delivering meals and bottled water to people in need after Sunday service. They also invited police, firefighters, emergency workers and even officials working to restore power to the area to join them.

The resources were taken to people in Pembroke, Eggleston, Rich Creek, and the Narrows, and given to those who stopped by Pearisburg churches. We spoke with a church member who said she didn’t know the number of people they affected on Sunday. But he says the work they do is important and God knows how many.

“We may not be in the destruction, but we are part of the destruction, as is the entire community, and we are God’s hands to give back to others in need,” says Sherry Pagan, a member of Pearisburg Church of God.

Pagan said those who still need help can reach out to the church and they will do what they can.
