Apple launched the all-new iPhone 16 series this month with larger batteries, a new Camera Capture button, and more. The company calls them the first iPhones built for Apple Intelligence. People are holding on to their existing iPhones longer than everbecause smartphones are getting so much better. Today, I’m going to highlight the five big features you’ll gain if you finally decide to upgrade.

A much better screen: Super Retina XDR

Apple introduced OLED screens to non-professional iPhones in 2020. iPhone 11 or older, you will still be using an old LCD screen. With OLED, you’ll get a much higher resolution display, better colors, deeper blacks, and support for high dynamic range content.

In short, everything you look at will look much better with Apple’s Super Retina XDR display. It’s also much brighter, with the iPhone 16 supporting up to 2000 nits outdoors. iPhone 11 It has a peak brightness of 625 nits.

Personalized AI on your iPhone

Not all of these features are available at launch, but you’ll need an iPhone 15 Pro or iPhone 16 to use any of them. You can use it to control your music, answer phone calls, and any other interaction.

Dynamic Island also interacts with Live Events, so apps like Flighty can show your flight details right in the pill slot at the top of your iPhone.

Additional buttons

Two new buttons have been added to the iPhone since iPhone 11both the Action Button (in place of the mute switch) and the Camera Control “button”. Apple refuses to call Camera Control a button, but that’s what it is.

The Action Button continues to act as the mute button by default, but if you find you don’t want to change it often, you can set it to many other things like Focus Mode, opening the Camera app, turning on Flashlight, recording a video, and more. Voice Memo and much more. Also in iOS 18, apps will be able to create their own controls for both the Action Button and Control Center, so it’s a big step forward. As for Camera Control, it’s a new toggle on the iPhone 16, giving users convenient and versatile new ways to use their iPhone cameras. When the button is pressed, the camera application will be opened from anywhere, and when the button is pressed from the camera application, a photo will be taken, and when it is held down, the video will start recording.
