Never Let Go had so much promise, but I’m tired of Hollywood bad endings

Never Let Go The latest film from popular production company Lionsgate, a studio known for its massive horror franchises. Saw, as well as popular action series The Hunger Games And John Wick (a trailer was recently released) Ballerina). This chilling survival horror game that feels similar though A Quiet PlaceIt had potential, it really ran out steam in the third act.

It’s annoying that this seems to be a common occurrence new movies. While I’m not completely against mystery and questions, sometimes it feels like something is missing from the script and the result leaves viewers disappointed and hungry for something they could never have. That was definitely the case. Never Let Go, mocked this great, evil threat and eventually faded away.

Movies don’t need to over-explain what’s going on, but it’s nice if they tell us something. Something Working with. For me, Never Let Go It was vague enough to be frustrating, leaving me with more questions than I entered, and that’s never a good sign.

The evil just called ‘Evil’ is this obvious major threat that has taken over the world and (even) abandoned Momma. he (unnamed) and his two sons are the only survivors. We eventually realize it’s a lie and it literally doesn’t go any further than that. The boys go to this civilization where they are protected all their lives, that’s all. We don’t know what these are, whether it’s all in their mother’s head or a demonic figure isolated in their remote cabin.

The kids couldn’t see Evil, but that still doesn’t explain why he was so central to their lives for all these years. Many of them didn’t work, and despite the good performances and spooky atmosphere, the story was lacking compared to its predecessor. best horror movies.

Should we get rid of ambiguous endings altogether?

No, no completelybut these seem to happen a lot and the outcome is not always good. But as we have seen throughout the history of cinema, this can be done very well. Take a look at this Beginning – Someone best Christopher Nolan movies – and the now iconic totem ending. We never find out if Cobb is in the real world, but given the richness of the hours before the final shot, the ending is unforgettable. Annoying of course but Great.

Never Let Go We were not able to reach these heights because we initially knew next to nothing about the threat. There was little to keep the audience engaged as I found myself primed for another jump scare in which my mother would see another manifestation of Evil, but that had more to do with the loud audio cues than my fear of the enemy. I don’t care if I know or not Nothing About what came out to scare me in the first place. Building lore is important.

Endings are tough, but most big budget movies have a really hard time sticking to the landing. A prime example of this is the terrible situation of Lionsgate. Border Region, This insulted video game fans everywhere and then turned into an unsatisfying conclusion. It’s not vague, it’s just boring. Can you tell I absolutely love it? It’s not all gloom though, 2024 has seen a lot of great movies and A24 in particular is leading the charge with recent movies like I Saw the Television Shining And MaXXXinewas one of these Five A24 movies I can’t wait to watch in 2024 – both nailed that all-important finale. I wish bigger names would follow suit.
