Fever Star Aliyah Boston Wants More Commas in Her WNBA Salary

The WNBA has broken ratings records and attendance is up 48% this season. So it makes sense that some of those additional dollars would go to the players.

The league has reached a certain level New $2.2 billion media rights dealhowever, the impact on wages has not yet been determined.

But one thing is clear: Indiana Fever star Aliyah Boston is hoping this means a big boost for the players.

Boston, of course, is teammates with Caitlin Clark, who has been a driving force behind the growing interest in the sport.

Aliyah was interviewed as part of a 60 Minutes piece that also featured Clark and Minnesota Lynx star Napheesa Collier, and playfully expressed her hopes for a bigger paycheck.

When Jon Wertheim asks her what she thinks a fair wage would be in a clip from the show. Shared by Sarah Spain on XBoston had this to say in response.

“So someone like me, I love more than one comma. Just because we deserve it. We come here day and night, we work hard. You see the views go up. You see everything go up. So I’m all for it, ’cause I love the comma.”

Boston’s response was likely amusing and serious at the same time, and it seems like it’s only a matter of time before players see a salary increase.

Collier also spoke with Wertheim and explained that WNBA players do not expect to receive salaries like NBA players, but would like to see a similar revenue sharing system implemented for men. “This is how we close this gap,” he said.

clark was Interviewed for the piece released on Sunday while shooting in the gym.

Thanks to the impact of Caitlin’s rookie season and the contributions of her teammates and the rest of the league, WNBA athletes can now rightfully strive for a higher pay scale.

Or, as Boston puts it, more commas.
