Razer Laptop Cooling Pad can keep your laptop up to 18% cooler

During Razercon, technology company Razer introduced many new accessories and devices, including its new line of Laptop Cooling Pads.
This new laptop accessory is designed to cool 14″ to 18″ laptops using a 140mm fan.
The Razer Laptop Cooling Pad features remapable buttons, three USB-A ports, and Razer Chroma RGB lighting.
It is expected to launch in Q4 2024 and will be available on Razer’s website.

During razercon 2024, the tech company has announced a number of upcoming products and gaming peripherals. New devices shown include: Razer The Laptop Cooling Pad is an accessory with a built-in 140mm fan designed to reduce the temperature of 14-inch to 18-inch laptops. We can say that this is the coolest accessory Razer has ever produced.

The Laptop Cooling Pad uses magnets and gaskets on its top surface. When a compatible-sized laptop is placed over these seals, it creates an airtight pressure chamber to cool devices more effectively than the mesh cooling pad designs many competitors use. There is also a filter designed for ultra-fine dust to reduce debris that can accumulate over time.

According to Razer, using this Laptop Cooling Pad can reduce laptops’ CPU (central processing unit) and GPU (graphics processing unit) temperatures by up to 18%. If true, this could help these devices operate more efficiently.

The Razer Laptop Cooling Pad features remapable buttons on the front right for even more convenience, and there are also three USB-A ports on the back. Fan speed can be adjusted using a physical button or the Razer Synapse program. Like most Razer gaming accessories, the Razer Laptop Cooling Pad features Razer Chroma RGB lighting, which is visible on the front. Connects to laptop via USB-A cable.

The Razer Laptop Cooling Pad will be released in Q4 2024 and will sell for $149.99 on the Razer website and at various retailers.

That’s a lot of money for a cooling pad

There is no shortage of laptop cooling pads on the market. Most third-party offerings can be had for less than $30, making the Razer Laptop Cooling Pad’s $149.99 price point pretty hard to swallow. However, Razer’s new accessory is much sleeker and offers more features than most other options. Not to mention, it’s easier to trust a known tech company like Razer than to buy a cheap peripheral from an unnamed third-party vendor.

As someone who regularly plays video games and uses creative programs on my laptop, I’m curious to see how well this new cooling device works. Keeping the CPU and GPU effectively cool while performing these tasks that are notorious for temperature spikes can help my laptop run more efficiently and potentially give me a better user experience. Depending on the device, it’s possible that the Razer Laptop Cooling Pad may even help extend battery life. However, this last point is basically moot because I will likely have access to an outlet in any area where I can use the large cooling pad.

At the end of the day, you’ll just have to decide whether the extra convenience and RGB glow this accessory provides is worth the high price tag.
