Pedri 8.5, Torres 6 | Osasuna 4-2 Barcelona: Player ratings

Barcelona’s match against Osasuna on Saturday night was not as simple as many expected, but not for understandable reasons.

Going into the match, the team was facing a historical record in La Liga under the management of the new manager. However, Hansi Flick was not impressed by this excitement and made more than one rotation during the night, resting Lamine Yamal, Inigo Martinez, Alejandro Balde and Raphinha.

Osasuna took full advantage of Barcelona’s changing lineup in the first period and scored two goals through Ante Budimir and Bryan Zaragoza to take a 2-0 lead at halftime.

Pau Victor pulled one back early in the second period before bringing their stars back onto the field in Flick Yamal and Raphinha.

But an ill-timed penalty helped the hosts make it 3-1, taking it out of Barcelona’s reach before a fourth penalty added the cherry to the home side’s cake.

Lamine Yamal’s great shot from distance gave Barcelona hope, but it was too late for the Catalans.

Barça Universal brings you the player ratings for Osasuna 4-2 Barcelona.

Inaki Pena: 5

The local star, who had his first real test with the Barcelona jersey, was defeated twice in 45 minutes against the Pamplona-based team.

Although there was nothing he could do against the opener, he was a little too determined in the second and went too far out of his goal.

He conceded two more goals in the second half, but there wasn’t much he could do in either situation.

Gerard Martin: 5.5

The academy star replaced Alejandro Balde at left back and had difficulty keeping up with Osasuna’s attack in the first half.

Facing Pablo Ibanez and Ruben Garcia, he often found himself chasing the Osasuna attack and was very poor defensively.

His distribution was another aspect of El Sadar’s game that frustrated him as he often fumbled the ball at the slightest pressure.

Pau Cubarsi: 6

The youngster was tasked with managing a makeshift defense against one of La Liga’s most in-form teams and struggled to maintain coordination with Sergi Dominguez.

He worked properly at an individual level and his distribution was flawless, but he fell short as he struggled to deal with Osasuna’s counters.

Sergi Dominguez: 4.5

The young player, who was brought into the starting lineup to rest Inigo Martinez, adopted a very high line with Cubarsi and often saw the defense breached by a single Osasuna pass. He had more defensive work than Cubarsi, but he was also questionable about some of his distribution.

He conceded a penalty towards the end of the match, helping the opponents calm down the game and get out of sight.

Jules Kounde: 7

The French defender was below the astronomical standards he had set for himself and struggled to make attacking forays into the Osasuna area. He was exposed to serious pressure from Bryan Zaragoza in defense and failed to maintain control of the wing defense in the first half.

He performed much better after the break as he made some vital tackles and also stepped up to good effect in attack.

Pedri: 8.5

The midfield phenomenon, who took over the captain’s chair, had a great responsibility on the field. Even though the team was disappointed in the first half, Pedri was one of the shining players.

The Canary Islander once again took center stage as part of a double pivot, but repeatedly showed great skill to escape pressure and break free into space. He even came close to recording a wonderful solo assist to Torres early in the game.

Eric Garcia: 7.5

A solid display from the academy graduate, who won 100% of his ground duels and 87% of his passes, and served as a durable goal to thwart Osasuna’s attacks.

Given his position, most of Barcelona’s friendly games passed through the Spaniard, who organized the game together with Pedri.

Pablo Torre: 7

An impressive performance from the young player, who started in a central role behind the striker. He was effective in the team’s offensive preparation phase and helped relieve the pressure of the Osasuna press, especially in the first half.

After the break he played some great combination play with Lewandowski and Torres, opening up his wings and helping create some good chances before being substituted.

Paul Victor: 6.5

It was definitely not a memorable first game for Victor as he had nothing positive to add to Barcelona’s attack in the first half.

Despite recording three completed dribbles, he lacked any end product and failed to provide any depth despite starting on the wing.

He scored a lucky goal from distance with a relatively weak shot from distance, surprising the Osasuna goalkeeper before the hour mark.

Robert Lewandowski: 6

The Polish team did not enjoy much serving in the first half as Barcelona were still able to recover after massive rotations. The team became much livelier in the second period after starting to recover.

He had a very important opportunity in the 51st minute but could not take advantage of it.

Ferran Torres: 6

A terrible first half from the Spaniard, especially considering he is supposed to be one of the most experienced and senior players on the pitch.

The former Manchester City star was unconvincing with his movement and passing against Osasuna and his first touch was beyond terrible, regularly frustrating the team and frustrating promising attacks.

He earned an assist for Yamal’s last shot.

Laminated Yamal: 8

He came on as a substitute in the second half and scored with a great shot from distance in the 88th minute. Unfortunately, he was a little late to respond.

Raphinha: 7.5

He featured for the final 40 minutes and managed Barcelona’s play well from behind the striker, as he recorded four crucial passes in his brief cameo.
