OVERVIEW (SPOILERS)

New alliances are formed and the tournament ends.

OUR PURCHASE

We finally reached the end of the fighting tournament and… I’m not going to lie, I was actually pretty disappointed. Now, let me be clear, I know we’ve been watching Masayuki overcome whatever conflict he’s faced since we first met him a few episodes ago, and that’s part of the joke with him. So it makes sense to spoil this joke a bit by having him eventually “lose” a fight by surrendering to Gobta out of fear of having to face a Demon Lord…even though he’d probably magically win that fight anyway. At least we can use this joke to learn more about Masayuki’s character, which could make the joke funnier AND wholesome! But then again, as I’ve been reminded over and over again, this series isn’t really about getting to know these characters, it’s a wish-fulfillment story about a random normal guy turning into a demon lord with a bunch of cool and complex attacks. and being surrounded by a bunch of cool guys and hot women. Character development is usually the fourth or fifth priority at most.

Also, remember Elmesia, one of the rulers of another nation who we met about ten episodes ago and who looked like she would be a major asset when she arrived at the festival? Apparently the reward for her showing up was that she was finally able to talk to Rimiru about forming an alliance with little more than a brief argument. Yes, the real conflict and tension is more around the eighth or ninth priority. So, hooray, the tournament ended with no real payoff other than Gobta gaining his own great technique, Masayuki being able to share a wholesome moment with Rimiru as Otherworlders, and now Tempest has new allies to help her stay afloat. itself. What’s left to do in the remaining two episodes of the season? I guess it’s just a big maze, I doubt it will provide a satisfactory conclusion or solution but… that’s what we get. But anyway, at least we’re finally at the end of the whole season and I can finally put it all behind me. Really, what could happen in just two episodes that would affect my emotions and reactions so much so far?

Green Lynx (David Kaldor): An aimless man in his 20s who gives his thoughts on cartoons for a fee. He’s clearly a bit more afraid of being boring than of being unloved.
