Longhorns’ Hayden Conner reflects on giving back to society

Hayden Conner has become a fixture in football since his college debut during the 2021 season. Longhorns offensive line. The Texas native has become a fixture in the community and was named to the 2024 Allstate AFCA Good Works Team.

This is not a reward Conner he makes light of it, but it means a lot to him.

“It definitely means a lot,” Conner said. That’s something I was paying attention to over the summer when I was putting together Paws For a Cause and other things. It has given me a platform to advocate for animal shelters, puppies, and other animals that need love and care. “It definitely shines a light on an area that I think doesn’t get enough love.”

While Paws For a Cause is an important charity for Conner, it’s not the only way he can give back. longhorn star She spearheaded fundraisers for the Austin Animal Center and volunteered with Austin Pets Alive. She has also served meals to low-income families through Hungry Souls and supported children affected by domestic violence by working with SAFE Austin.

Although Conner is known for his work in Austin, he was helping those in need before he became a college athlete.

“I’ve been doing this my whole life,” Conner said. “I started volunteering with the Special Olympics when I was in elementary school, and that turned into feeding animals. That’s very important to me, and I was raised the right way. I have good role models.”

As the Longhorns rose to the top of the college football world, Hayden’s work off the field did not go unnoticed. The Allstate AFCA Good Works Team honors student-athletes who inspire them to serve others and make a positive impact on society.

According to Conner, Paws For a Cause’s main priority is to place animals in loving homes.

“I care deeply about shelter animals,” Conner said. I am a good person and realistic. “I don’t do this for any reason other than getting the animals into homes that will give them love.”
