Wode Maya is a Ghanaian YouTuber

Ghanaian YouTuber Wode Maya has clashed with the Chief Executive Officer of the National Entrepreneurship and Innovation Programme, Kofi Ofosu Nkansah on Facebook after Wode Maya advocated for the release of arrested Democracy Center protesters.

In his post, Wode Maya expressed his disappointment with the direction of the country and its democracy.

Concerned about how individual rights are restricted and people are prevented from expressing their grievances about current events, he said the country has become unrecognizable in recent times and people are unable to voice their opinions and rights.

“This is Not the Ghana We Know!#Free the Citizens,” he posted on September 25, following allegations of police inhumane treatment of arrested protesters.

Kofi Ofosu Nkansah responded to Wode Maya by making comparisons to Kenyan protests where police intervened against demonstrators.

Kofi Ofosu Nkansah supported the police arrest of the protesters, stating that the protesters were causing inconvenience to road users and acting unlawfully.

“This happened in your wife’s country, Kenya. “GH protesters were arrested for taking the law into their hands and causing inconvenience to road users,” he replied.

Wode Maya harshly criticized him for making frivolous and unintelligent comments in the face of pressure.

“Kofi Ofosu Nkansah Considering your cover photo, I definitely didn’t expect a smart comment from you!.”

The three-day protest themed #OccupyJulorbiHouse and #StopGalamsey took a different turn on the second day when protesters blocked roads around junction 37 in Accra, obstructing traffic.

They removed police barricades, burned party paraphernalia, and took the keys to the police van in an attempt to prevent police from towing the food truck.

They have since been charged by the prosecutor’s office with unlawful assembly and disturbing the peace, among other crimes.
