Fans go wild for Mike Brady as he returns to the AFL Grand Final once again with a praised performance

It looks like football’s favorite balladeer Mike Brady has the job for life and fans praised his AFL Grand final performance in Melbourne on Saturday.

Mike, 76, once again performed his iconic song Up There Cazaly in front of more than 100,000 football fans at the MCG.

Up There Cazaly was created by Mike in 1979 as a stirring Aussie Rules anthem about football legend Roy Cazaly, synonymous with the sport.

He performed the iconic tune in 14 AFL Grand finals, the first in 1979.

It looks like Mike and his famous song have become a fixture at the Grand Final celebrations and fans don’t know what to do without them.

One football fan who uses X, formerly known as Twitter, was unsure what would happen on the big day if Mike passed away untimely.

‘I wonder what the AFL will do when Mike Brady dies?’ the fan asked her if someone else suggested ‘Kylie Minogue’ as the recipient of the Up There Cazaly title.

‘I hope someone records this sound forever,’ they said. ‘I can’t imagine a GF without her.’

Another agreed with a similar view, suggesting: ‘I hope they’re filming Mike Brady in 3D now so we can see a hologram of him belting out Cazaly Up There on G on #AFLGF day in the future.’

Yet another fan suggested that the entire contest might have to be canceled after Mike’s passing.

Another agreed with a similar sentiment, saying: ‘I hope they capture Mike Brady in 3D now so we can have a hologram performing Up There Cazaly on G on #AFLGF day in the future.’

To talk A Current Event Ahead of his 2024 Grand Final performance, Mike said that after all these years, he was still excited to play the tune at such a big event.

‘My first grand final was against Carlton Collingwood in 1979. “It was a full house and it was like coming home,” he said.

‘I love going out. ‘I get this feeling of warmth from the crowd.’

He added that he was looking forward to watching Katy Perry’s performance.

‘I’m really looking forward to Katy Perry.’ He can really sing. “He got his dues,” he said.

‘I don’t know if I deserve my dues, I guess I’m just a lucky kid.’
