Big Lake

Boat ramp hours are 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. Fishing continues to improve as the waters cool.

Rainbow trout and brown trout are active in the inlet areas. A 2-inch weighted streamer in green or white is produced for fly fishermen, or a white or green jerkbait for those fishing with a spinning rod. As the sun rises and the fish move out of the inlet areas, work the shorelines and docks in the inlet area.

The lake trout bite is good, we are near spawning temperatures and expect the bite to improve day by day. Target fish in 30-55 feet of water, 3/8-ounce spoons, brightly colored plastics and a 3/8-ounce jig tipped with fresh suckers are producing fish worked right on the bottom. Use your electronics to find fish grouping together to spawn.

Williams Fork

East boat ramp hours are 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. daily. The water level is 88%, which is just over 7 feet. The surface temperature drops to 58 degrees Fahrenheit in the early morning hours, warming up to 60 degrees on calm sunny days. Visibility is 10 to 12 feet.

The lake trout bite is getting better as we get closer to spawn. We are currently seeing 14 or more fish per rod. Most Lakers run between 12-20 inches. Look for mixed age groups in 60 to 80 feet of water.

Small baits are used more frequently than larger baits. Tubes 3 inches and smaller seem to work best right now. Lay your jig with the suction cup and work it at or near the bottom with light jig strokes. The bite slows down in the afternoon but picks up again around 4 p.m.

Northern pike slow down as usual; This is partly because the population is declining and many of the larger fish no longer live in their traditional habitats. Please practice catching and releasing all captured northerners.

Brown Trout are active along the rocks north of the east boat ramp and in the bay before the sun hits the water. The lake has not been stocked with rainbows or kokanee since 2019 to control gill lice, so there isn’t much fishing for them.

Lake Granby

Boat ramp hours are 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. Water temperatures warm into the high 50s first thing in the morning and into the low 60s by the end of the day. The water level is 88% below, or about 9.5 feet, and falling.

Rainbow trout and brown trout action is good right now. Look for rainbows in the entry fields; Streamers, spoons and spinners are all producing fish. Target brown trout along rocky shorelines and rock-to-mud transition areas.

Dynamic Twitch Tubes, jerkbaits and beadhead streamers are producing fish in a variety of natural colors.

Lake trout action is pretty good and improving each day as the fish prepare to spawn. Look for them in prespawn areas in 30-65 feet of water. Spoons, brightly colored plastic with 3/8-ounce jig head and tip are making the best products right now.

We’re expecting great fall weather next week, so come check out the gorgeous fall colors and get some great fishing.
