The golf tournament brought in thousands of dollars for the University. Alabama program

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WBRC) -$22,000 for the University of Alabama Waypoints program. That’s how much money golfers raised during Thursday’s golf tournament at Ol’ Colony in Tuscaloosa.

Crossing Points is a program that serves UA students with intellectual disabilities. The overriding goal is to provide a true college experience, and that includes blending them into classes while also preparing them for the workforce.

“Employment opportunities for our students, so the money from this golf tournament goes directly to the students and pays them for the work they do not only on campus but also in the community in the apprenticeships that we have for our students,” he said. Jeremy Reid, UA Waypoints program faculty member.

Reid said about 75 golfers participated in the tournament and the three first-place teams won free TV.
