First Reviews Released for ‘Throne And Liberty’ Ahead of Free-to-Play Xbox Release

Amazon Games’ new MMORPG Throne and Liberty Almost ready to launch! The full version arrives as a free-to-play game for Xbox and other platforms on Tuesday, October 1, with paid early access already live now.

This means we have a few reviews to highlight. They’re very few in number right now and some have decided not to give points until they’ve had more time, but we can at least get an early idea of what it’s like.

Let’s take a look at some of the early Throne and Liberty reviews:

“I’ve been a little too quick to judge MMOs in the past by their leveling experience, where the real gameplay begins when you’ve invested dozens – possibly hundreds – of hours into the game. But as it stands now, I can do that. I can say that this is a game I’m excited to play. It’s a game I’m excited to play across the board. “There’s real hope for a modern successor to NCSoft’s Lineage 2, one of the best of all time.”

“I don’t exactly believe it’s doing anything wildly different from the genre norm, but what it does it does with a level of polish rarely seen, especially at this early stage. Will it challenge the heavy hitters? It’s too early right now. I’ll say it, but it’s a good start.”

“In many ways Throne and Liberty It plays like a typical MMO. Players explore a variety of different fantasy environments, fighting a variety of different monsters with various class-specific abilities. There’s an extensive main quest, side activities like crafting and fishing, multiplayer dungeons, competitive player-versus-player matches, and everything else you’d expect from the genre. It has a handful of unique ideas, but they don’t always go far enough to carry a generic MMO.”

“Comprehensive Throne and Liberty It comes together as a mixture of ideas that don’t fit together perfectly – my constant references to other MMOs are almost a testament to this – although I still can’t deny that some interesting things happen.”

“I can see so much Throne and Liberty “While it’s not terribly innovative for the genre as a whole, it finds its fans for the things it does well, and that’s more than you can say for many new MMOs and MMO-adjacent games.”

“Everything it does is done much better elsewhere in the genre, and the lack of any unique elements or compelling vision leaves it struggling to justify its existence, let alone waste your time or money.”

Despite some of these mixed impressions, we’re pretty confident that Throne and Liberty will find a wide audience on Xbox due to its free-to-play nature, and we can’t wait to try it out for ourselves when it launches on Tuesday.
