Pirate golfers placed 7th at regionals; Speicher moves into the regions

KALIDA – The Bluffton High School boys golf team finished seventh out of 13 teams in the Div. III on Thursday, September 26 at Moose Landing Country Club. division tournament.

Napoleon won the regional team title by one shot, batting .316. Ottawa-Glandorf was a close second with 317 hits, followed by St. Louis. Marys followed in third (321).

The top three teams reached the regions, along with the top three who were not on the qualifying teams.

Pirate ace Evan Speicher qualified for the district tournament with a strong fourth-place finish in the 64-player field with a round of 35-41=76. He was the top finisher individually, not on a top-three team.

Upper Sandusky’s Brock Montgomery won the regional individual title with a 34-36=70 in the 18-hole round.

Bluffton finished seventh with a 346 shot on the congested field.

Pirate Nick Lovett ranked 35th with a score of 45-44=89. Grady Coonfare came third in the Pirates with a score of 45-45=90. It rose to 37th place.

Ethan Fifer finished 39th with a score of 45-46=91.

Gibson Meyer ranked 50th with a score of 45-51=96.
