Great Falls High’s Boyd and CMR’s Pinski top Eastern AA regional golf

BILLINGS – Electric City golfers collected medal honors at the Eastern AA regional golf tournament Thursday at Lake Hills Golf Course.

Great Falls High School’s Hanna Boyd finished first on the girls side by shooting more than two pars all tournament and shot 73 on both days to earn the league victory. Boyd finished seven strokes ahead of Bozeman’s Kira Connell for second place with a 153 total. It was the senior team’s fifth tournament victory of the season, with previous wins in Kalispell, Belgrade, Billings and Great Falls. Boyd was a two-time All-State golfer for the Bison and finished sixth the last two seasons.

Pinski, a sophomore, shot a 3-under par on Thursday to close the 36-hole, two-day tournament with a 69, the only under-par 70 round of the meet. Pinski shot 72 in the opening round on Wednesday to finish at 141, two strokes ahead of second-place Cooper Bourret of Bozeman High School.

CMR junior Quincey Weymouth finished 12th^This He’ll advance to state next week in Kalispell and shoot a 172 in two days.

Bozeman High School, Bozeman Gallatin, Billings West and Billings Skyview earned the boys’ top four spots, respectively, and will all advance the top five golfers to state; Gallatin, West, Bozeman and Billings Senior were the top four teams on the girls’ side.

Senior Eric Bell finished 18th at 163.^This and advance to the state meet for the Great Falls High School boys as he ranked in the top 10 among golfers not currently on state-qualifying teams. Also heading to state were Ayden Platt and Jackson Hageman from the CMR boys team, who tied for 26 points.^This total 170.

Danica Lewis joined Weymouth for the state tournament and finished in 18th place.^This Callie Criss continued on her way with 29 at 178.^This with 201.

The state tournament begins next week on Thursday at Northern Pines Golf Course in Kalispell.
