Milwaukee Public Schools Launches New Superintendent Search with HYA Search Firm » Urban Milwaukee

Milwaukee, Wisconsin – September 26, 2024 – The Milwaukee School Board Hazard is pleased to announce that the search for a new chief has begun, in partnership with the search firm Young, Attea and Associates (HYA). This important effort aims to identify a visionary leader who will lead the way. Milwaukee Public Schools (MPS) towards continued success and innovation.

The Board will hear an update from HYA during the Board Clerk/Chief Official’s Reports and Communications at this evening’s September Regular meeting, which begins at 5:30 p.m. The presentation will include a timeline of the investigator’s investigation and key benchmarks in a process expected to take several months.

The Board is committed to ensuring that the selection process reflects the diverse perspectives and needs of our community. The Board of Directors, in collaboration with HYA, is conducting a series of stakeholder engagement sessions for the Milwaukee community and gathering valuable input from the Milwaukee community,

Details about upcoming engagement sessions will be available on the MPS website next week. Stakeholder engagement sessions will include:

• Group Forums: Open forums will be held to allow community members to share their thoughts and expectations about the new superintendent.
• One-on-One Meetings: HYA representatives will participate in individual discussions with local leaders to gather detailed information.
• Community Sessions: Special sessions will be held to hear from different community groups and ensure broad representation.
• Zoom Opportunities: A variety of virtual sessions will be available to facilitate the participation of all stakeholders to provide feedback.
• Online Survey: An online survey will be launched to collect opinions from those who cannot attend the sessions in person.
