Roma Odunze sees preparations and hard work ‘paying off’

Odunze sees the improved offensive production, as well as the possibility of getting veteran receiver Keenan Allen back on the field, as a big boost. Allen, who missed the last two games due to a heel injury, trained in limited capacity on Wednesday and Thursday.

“A 12-year vet? Hall of Famer? Oh man, I can’t tell you how that’s going to help you,” Odunze joked. “No, I’m just playing. I’m Keenan Allen. He’s going to go out there and cause problems for the defense, help us by telling us different things throughout the game, and continue to be a weapon like Keenan Allen.

“That will create problems defensively, not knowing who to cover, who to cover, who to highlight and allowing more things to open up.”

Even if Allen is able to play against the Rams on Sunday, Odunze will continue to be an integral part of the offensive success while furthering his and Williams’ connection on the field.

While it may take a few games for the draft picks to show their chemistry, Odunze believes this is just one chapter at the beginning of their careers. The focus for the duo ultimately remains on using their connection to win games.

“This is part of our journey, but it is not the end-all,” Odunze said. he said. “We had a great bond in that game, but it wasn’t enough to get a W. It’s a little bit bittersweet. Those are the things you can look at and say, ‘yeah, I need to do a little bit more.’ And the things you can look at and say, ‘hey, I didn’t do that very well,’ and they need to be improved.” There are things. So this is a part that we will continue to learn despite everything.”
