Brunswick County Literacy Council to hold annual golf tournament

OCEAN ISLE BEACH, NC (WECT) – The Literacy Council of Brunswick County will host its 34th annual charity golf tournament on Wednesday, October 16 at Links in Brick Landing.

The registration fee is $100 per golfer or $400 per foursome, which includes breakfast and lunch, prizes for top golfers, raffles, and a round of golf with co-workers, friends, or family. Guests can also expect a silent auction.

“Our tournament is so much more than just a day in the field,” said Melissa Warren, executive director of the Literacy Council of Brunswick County. “Our players’ passion for golf is making a significant impact in transforming lives and communities by increasing adult literacy rates, impacting not only our students and their families, but our entire district.”

The tournament will be in the Captain’s Choice format. Registration and silent auction will begin at 7:30 a.m. and the auction will end at 9 a.m. Entrance to the tournament will begin at 7.#0 in the morning and the shotgun start will begin at 09.00. A buffet lunch will then be held at: 13:45

“This year’s tournament will feature a new event to cap off the day. “Bottle Bonanza” is a fun putting contest in which liquor bottles are placed on the golf course and golfers pay for the opportunity to hit one of the bottles. If they hit a bottle, they will get it as a reward,” reads a notice from the Literacy Council of Brunswick County.
