Shoppers race to buy $15 Walmart dupe of viral sensation

Shoppers who hoped to get their hands on the major must-have Stanley Quencher can now buy a $15 dupe at Walmart.

The highly talked about Stanley brand tumbler caused an internet frenzy, and its dupes are beginning to sell out like crazy.

‘With a 40-ounce capacity, this reusable tumbler is the drinkware everyone needs in their pantry,’ Walmart wrote in its listing.

Like the Stanley Quencher, Walmart’s tumbler comes with vacuum insulation and a cup holder-friendly base.

It’s also available in nearly 30 colors online, and its aqua blue-colored tumbler is currently on sale for $13.

The Stanley Quencher has always been one of the Seattle-based brand’s most popular cups, but its popularity suddenly grew in 2020.

Retailing between $35 and $55 at various stores, the tumbler helped make Stanley’s revenue go from $73 million in 2019 to $750 million in 2023, according to CNBC.

‘The Quencher has become an internet sensation over the last two years,’ Terence Reilly, global president of the Stanley brand, said in a 2022 news release.

‘As it has quickly risen in popularity – with restocks selling out in mere minutes and videos quickly going viral on social media – we wanted to continue to provide innovative products and solutions for our consumers.’

One of its popular tumblers is the Quencher H2.0 Flowstate Tumblerwhich, according to its listing, is available in over 30 colors.

However, customer ratings on both products are drastically different.

Each product listing on Walmart and Stanley’s websites had more than 11,000 ratings, and while the Quencher had close to a four-star rating, Walmart’s Ozark Trail 40Oz Vacuum Insulated Stainless Steel Tumbler had nearly five stars.

Although less than 550 Walmart customers gave the Ozark Tumbler a one-star review, they were not afraid to leave harsh criticism over the product.

‘I returned one of the two tumblers I purchased only because I used it thinking it was going to keep my water cold,’ wrote a tumbler purchaser.

‘I advise against purchasing this product if your primary intention is to preserve the temperature of your beverages.’

Several other one-star reviewers claimed their tumblers’ handles fell off almost immediately after purchase, and that some of the products had scratches, dents, or no straws.

Over 9,200 Walmart shoppers had nothing but praise the product in their reviews, and complemented its colors.

‘I ordered the 40 oz tumbler, “Red Mark.” It’s more of a raspberry than a true red. Outside of that they build the best tumbler for $15 you will ever find anywhere,’ a Walmart shopper wrote.

The shopper added that they like the Walmart tumbler better than Stanley and Yeti and that it beats all the $50, $20, and $10 tumblers on Amazon and eBay.

Another five-star reviewer wrote: ‘My daughter got it as an early Valentine’s Day gift. It is rather large but it encourages her to drink her water at a fraction of the cost for a Stanley.’
