Pottawattamie County encourages enrollment in disaster program

Residents in Pottawattamie County impacted by April storms and June flooding now have access to enhanced capabilities under the Iowa State Disaster Advocacy Program.

The DCA program addresses serious needs related to disaster-related hardships, injuries or adverse conditions, according to a news release from Pottawattamie County. Disaster case advocates work with clients to create a disaster recovery plan and provide guidance, advice and referrals to obtain a service or resource.

There is no cost for this service or connecting to available resources. The Iowa Homeland Security and Emergency Management Agency approved this local request to provide more support to residents affected by the disaster.

“Our state partners provide experienced case management personnel who can provide support and guidance to those experiencing challenges in recovery,” Pottawattamie County Emergency Management Director Doug Reed said in the release. they still have needs or feel lost in the process.”

There are no income instructions or expenses for the participant. To participate, participants must have disaster-related needs that create an unresolved burden and the household must be legal residents of the United States.
