Video: Kentucky CBB Unveils LED Video Court for Big Blue Madness | News, Scores, Highlights, Stats & Rumors

The Kentucky men’s and women’s basketball teams’ annual Big Blue Madness preseason celebrations will take on a whole new dimension this year.

Big Blue Madness kicks off at Rupp Arena at the Central Bank Center on Oct. 11. The event gives fans an introduction to the Kentucky men’s and women’s basketball teams, both of which feature first-year head coaches Pope and Kenny Brooks this season.

“We look forward to putting on a show for Big Blue Nation at our first Big Blue Madness event using ASB GlassFloor as part of the show,” said Brooks. he said in a press release“Big Blue Madness is renowned in the college basketball world. We have been intrigued by the possibilities of playing on this court since we saw the ASB GlassFloor at the U19 World Cup last year. We are excited to add this exciting technology to what promises to be an entertaining night at Rupp Arena.”

ASB GlassFloor was previously used at the 2024 NBA All-Star Weekend in Indianapolis, the 2024 Basketball Champions League Final and the 2023 FIBA ​​U19 Women’s Basketball World Cup. Interactive applications on the field offer fans fun new ways to participate in the event.

Pope, who will replace longtime head coach John Calipari after he left for Arkansas, will have an experienced roster for the 2024-25 season that includes six fifth-year players, one senior, one junior, one sophomore and three freshmen. Calipari’s squads have been known for their youth, led by highly touted freshmen, so Pope brings a new culture to Lexington.

The Kentucky men’s basketball team went 23-10 last season and was eliminated in the first round of the NCAA Tournament. The women’s team went 12-20 and missed the tournament for the second consecutive season.
