The Office star struggled to ‘kick the habit’ after leaving comedy series

Just talking RadioTimes.com to promote his new movie Wolves Open Apple TV+Holly Flax star Amy Ryan has opened up about her experience on the show, explaining how it affected her work after leaving the show.

And we can easily say that he has a habit that is hard to break from his time in comedy.

Ryan explains, “After I finished working on that show, I started working on other movies and shows… I was accidentally looking into the camera.

“And then I’d say, ‘Oh, right, you’re only allowed to do that on The Office.'”

It was especially difficult for an Oscar-nominated actor, especially in a notable production, to try not to accidentally break the fourth wall.

“I remember doing that in Paul Greengrass’ movie Green Zone, and it was so embarrassing. So I had to break the habit.”

But ultimately, this minor challenge was a small price to pay for Ryan, who successfully portrayed Holly, the HR executive and quirky romantic interest of Steve Carell’s Michael Scott, for four seasons.

But working with Carell came with its own set of challenges.

“No matter how many episodes I played with Steve Carell, it was very hard to stay serious with him,” she explained.

“He’s just incredibly funny. Luckily there were always two cameras, so when I started laughing one camera would quietly shut off.

“I was holding my breath, laughing, and on the other side you could see my shoulders shaking.”
