Independent Health’s commercial health plan takes top spot

Independent Health received the highest possible score for clinical quality and member satisfaction in the National Committee for Quality Assurance’s 2024 Commercial Health Plan Ratings.

The insurer’s commercial plan has received a five-star rating for the second year in a row.

It is the only plan in New York to receive a score for quality and service and one of only three commercial plans in the country to receive five stars in 2024. It was among nearly 600 health plans reviewed nationwide.

When Independent Health received a five-star rating from NCQA last year, it became the first health plan in Western New York to achieve so.

The health plan also became the only plan in the country to receive a five-star rating from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services for the second year in a row for its entire Medicare Advantage product portfolio. The company achieved Tier 1 Status under the state Department of Health’s Medicaid Managed Care Quality Incentive Program for the third year in a row. And for the second year in a row, Independent Health ranked first among nearly 80 health plans that participate in the Federal Employee Health Benefits program.
