Medieval heist game Hood Outlaws and Legends is ending service

One of the saddest things in video games is when something with a great concept comes along and then gets trashed. Title: Outlaws and Legends This is one of those games. Taking the PvPvE heist action made famous by games like Payday and moving it to the Middle Ages sounds great on paper, but unfortunately the game failed to really gain traction and received mixed reviews on Steam. As a result, Focus Entertainment, who also published Space Marine 2, have confirmed that the heist game will be discontinued next year, with the in-game store going offline much sooner.

Released in 2021 and developed by Sumo Newcastle (developer of new cyberpunk racing game Deathsprint 66), Title: Outlaws and Legends casts you as a rebel thief who teams up with a band of merry men and women to infiltrate heavily guarded strongholds run by the sinister State.

Similar to the Payday games, your goal is to pull off a perfect heist with four players and come out unscathed. However, while Payday allows for a gun-toting approach, Hood: Outlaws and Legends secret game At its core, players must steal items from bosses like the Sheriff of Nottingham and evade guards.

While this all sounds promising, the game sits at ‘Mixed’ on Steam, with only 51% of its reviews being positive. Players cite cheating, balance issues, and a frustrating stamina system as the main issues, and there haven’t been any major updates since Season 3 began in 2022.

It seemed like the writing was on the wall, but it became official on Tuesday, September 24. In a post on the game’s official Steam page, Focus confirmed that Hood: Outlaws and Legends will be ending its service next year, with the in-game store closing in just a few weeks.

“We are sad to announce that our game Hood: Outlaws and Legends will be ending service on February 18th. After this date, the game, along with all editions, DLCs, and battle pass items, will no longer be available,” the post reads.

“This was a difficult but necessary decision, and we understand it may be disappointing. The Hood team deeply thanks you for your support and dedication throughout this incredible adventure. We loved every moment of it and hope your memories of Hood: Outlaws and Legends are as precious as ours.”

Hood: Outlaws and Legends will cease operations on Tuesday, February 18, 2025. The in-game store will close on Wednesday, October 16. Additionally, if you purchased the game within the last two weeks, you are eligible for a refund.
