Ninja launches Crispi Portable Cooking System

Ninja adds new items to its arsenal today best tested hobs arguably the most versatile appliance ever. The new Ninja Crispi helps you use fewer dishes while making dinner easier than ever — whether you’re making a meal for the first time or warming up leftovers. And after trying it out for ourselves, we’re impressed!

We think the new Ninja Crispi is one of the most versatile air fryers yet. It’s designed with four different cooking modes – maximum crisp, sear, air fryer and re-crisp – the latter of which pairs perfectly with its glass container, which also doubles as a way to store leftovers.

The new Ninja Crispi is still an air fryer. Let’s be clear. It still relies on much of the same technology that made the company’s previous versions so highly ranked. our own testsBut this is where things start to get different with the 1,500-watt air fryer.

Instead of the large designs we are used to seeing on these devices devices While the Ninja would normally require a dedicated space on your counter, it opts for a more compact structure. Crispi abandons this status quo and opts for a design that you can hold in the palm of your hand.

The centerpiece of this new, unique design is the Crispi pod. This shrinks the typical form factor you’d find on one of these cookers and packs it down to a fraction of the size. The pod then pairs with the included glass containers that fit underneath. So instead of transferring ingredients from a container to a frying basket and back to your plate, the plates take care of the prep, cooking, and serving. This means you can make an entire meal from just one plate and cover the leftovers to reheat the next day.

To achieve this, Ninja has added four different cooking functions: maximum crisp, sear, air fryer, and re-crisp—all of which can reach temperatures of up to 450°. Ultimately, it’s that last feature that’s of most interest to us at CNN Underscored. It’s also where we think the Ninja Crispi can really shine compared to the company’s existing air fryers and make the most of its unique form factor. After all, who doesn’t enjoy using fewer plates to make dinner?

I love the idea of being able to marinate some protein using just one dish, then cook it and store the leftovers for lunch the next day is a great start. But then, you can grab the container from the fridge and use the re-crisp mode on the appliance to get everything ready for your next meal.

I’m not the only one who has come to the same conclusion. Our own review editor, Tobey Grumetwas able to test out the new Ninja Crispi for himself. Here’s what he said:

“The new Crispi is incredibly easy to use and even store. From cooking wings in the air fryer from scratch, to crisping frozen fries, to simply cooking broccoli, we made a full dinner for our 16-year-old son in under 20 minutes and without turning on the oven or dirtying pots and pans. Since then, we’ve also air-fried chicken breasts, pork tenderloin, tofu, and mozzarella sticks—then we store them in the Crispi containers, put them back in the containers, and heat them until perfectly crispy for a second round.”

That’s before we even mention that the Crispi is compact enough to completely detach from your counter. The unusual design allows the air fryer to go places its older siblings could only dream of. I personally live in a fairly compact New York apartment and don’t have enough counter space for a traditional air fryer. But now I’m thinking about how the Ninja’s newest might fit into my own meal-prep routine.

You also have the potential to take Crispi to dinners this holiday season—Greg Fish, SVP of Product Development for Ninja — Heated, Outdoor, and Coffee, is a use case he pointed out to me when we had the chance to get together for a virtual interview. Instead of fighting for valuable time using the oven, you can bring in the whole Crispi and let it work its magic. As we chatted, he also told me about one of his favorite examples of where Ninja’s newest gadget shines—making chicken wings.

Usually, cooking a batch of wings means dirtying up a mixing bowl, your air fryer, and then a serving bowl. That means a sink full of dishes from trying to snack while watching football games this fall. But with Crispi, you can use a single pot to prep, cook, and serve wings.

To help with that, Ninja offers both 4-quart and 6-cup containers alongside the Crispi pod. You’ll also get leak-proof, BPA-free lids in the box. Ninja also notes that in addition to starter packs that include the Crispi itself, the company will also sell additional packs of 100% PFAS-free glass containers and lids. More packs will be available later when the portable air fryer launches at additional retailers in the fall.

The new Ninja Crispi will be available directly later this week Ninja’s own websiteIt will retail for $159.99 when it goes on sale on September 26. Other retailers like Amazon will then release the air fryer later this fall.
