Gulfport Police seek community support after recent shootings

GULFPORT, Mississippi (WLOX) – Gulfport Police are asking for the public’s help in response to a recent string of shootings.

This comes after 19-year-old Caden Mikael Minner-Hall surrendered this morning As a result of a shooting that occurred on Monday.

Authorities are also investigating another incident Shooting at Big Boys Supermarket On the Dedeaux Road.

Gulfport Police Chief Adam Cooper says parents are the first line of defense in preventing crime.

“By the time it gets to the police department, it’s too late,” Cooper said. “There are clear signs that this is coming. Just look at the child’s Facebook or social media. It’ll say who they’re playing with, who they’re rolling with, who their friends are, what they’re doing. So even if your child isn’t waving a gun around online, you’ll see if your friend’s baby is doing it and you’ll know who their friends are.”

Police Chief Cooper said if you have a tip about any shooting and want to share it, you can call the police department or the Crime Tip Line.
