Concord Esports team wins Invitational event

BLUEFIELD, West Virginia (WVVA) – Concord E-sports Our team became Grand Champions by winning the HUE Invitational Tournament held at Harrisburg University.

The event was held September 22-24 at Harrisburg University, with 12 teams competing in the three-day tournament.

After advancing past the early rounds, Concord found themselves in the Grand Finals where they were matched up against West Virginia University (WVU). Concord defeated WVU 4-0 in a best-of-7 series to become the tournament’s Grand Champion.

The Concord Esports team also won a $2,500 cash prize.

Concord competed with teams like Penn State, Ole Miss, and Michigan State on its way to the championship.

Concord University became the first public university in West Virginia to create an Esports program in 2019. Since then, Concord Esports has won 10 national championships, 9 for Call of Duty and 1 for Rocket League.
