Menlo Micro Delivers Another Unique Fully Integrated Loop Solution for High-Speed Data Connectivity to Manufacturing

PARIS, France., Sept. 24, 2024 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — Menlo Microsystems, Inc. (Menlo Micro), the company responsible for bringing to market the greatest electronic component innovation since the transistor with Ideal Switch® technology, today introduced a new differential double-pole/triple-throw (2x DP3T) switch at European Microwave Week in Paris, France. Building on the success of Menlo Micro’s industry-leading MM5620 2x DP3T loopback relay, the MM5622 offers a DC-coupled version with improved RF performance. Offering unprecedented reductions in size and power consumption, and unmatched increases in performance and reliability, the MM5622 will deliver significant cost savings to a much broader segment of the high-speed SerDes market.

The switch’s system-in-package (SiP) solution fully integrates a driver, charge pump, and 12 high-performance switch channels, delivering a significant board footprint reduction for production cycle test solutions. The MM5622 Ideal Switch® supports differential signal switching at data rates of 64 Gbps, required for multiple high-speed SerDes buses, along with applications for smartphones, GPUs, CPUs, network processors, and other high-performance computing and high-speed memory products.

“Approximately 15 months after the highly successful launch of our first, highly differentiated loopback relay, the MM5620, Menlo Micro continues to expand the application landscape for these unique loopback test solutions with the launch of the MM5622,” said Chris Giovanniello, Co-Founder and Senior Vice President of the RF Business Unit at Menlo Micro. “With superior test coverage and the ability to perform all necessary performance and functional verification using a single load board, the MM5622 will deliver hundreds of thousands of dollars in test cost savings to an even broader segment of the high-performance computing (HPC) market. We will continue to expand our roadmap of high-speed I/O test solutions to keep pace with the exploding market for HPC devices.”

The MM5622 brings a long list of advantages to the market, including:

Fully Integrated Loopback: The MM5622 provides an end-to-end TX to RX differential loopback solution for DC-coupled SerDes lines, while also providing multiple high-speed connections to automated test equipment.

Compact design: The MM5622’s small footprint and low-profile 8.2 mm x 8.2 mm x 1.6 mm LGA package enables a 90% reduction in size compared to traditional electromagnetic relay (EMR) solutions. Fully integrated signal transmission significantly reduces routing and signal integrity challenges for PCB designers.

All-in-one test solution: The unique design of the MM5622 provides the only solution on the market to accomplish three essential test requirements on DC-coupled buses: (1) same-speed loopback testing, (2) high-speed digital I/O and scanning, and (3) true DC parametric measurements. All with a single test card.

1000x faster switching: The MM5622’s ultra-fast switching speed (< 10 μs on/off time) is 1000x faster than EMRs, reducing test time and test cost.

1000 times more reliable: The MM5622 offers unmatched reliability and can operate for more than three billion switching cycles, resulting in less downtime, maintenance and costs, and a 1000 times longer lifespan compared to traditional EMRs.
