Union Minister Athawale reviews progress of welfare schemes in Vadodara

Vadodara, September 24 (IANS): Union Minister of State for Social Justice and Empowerment Ramdas Athawale met senior officials of Gujarat’s Vadodara district and reviewed the progress of various welfare schemes implemented by the Central and state governments. Athawale expressed satisfaction over the initiatives aimed at social development, especially benefiting marginalised communities.

The Union Minister said that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, various welfare schemes have been launched for the betterment of Dalits, disadvantaged, oppressed, tribals and women. “These schemes have brought significant positive changes in the lives of the poor,” Athawale said during the review.

He also underlined the provision of maximum assistance to the disabled persons through the Central government company ALIMCO and reviewed the scholarship schemes, hostel facilities and boarding schools for the students belonging to Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe communities. He also assessed the schemes for sanitation workers, senior citizens and disabled persons.

Union Minister Athawale was briefed about the progress of Dr. Babasaheb Sankalp Bhumi Memorial under construction at Sayaji Baug in Vadodara. The meeting was attended by Collector Bijal Shah, District Development Officer Mamta Hirpara, Superintendent of Police Rohan Anand and Deputy Commissioner of Police Julie Kothiya and other senior officials from the Social Justice Department.

The Union Minister praised Vadodara’s welfare programmes.
