New ‘Gladiator II’ trailer reveals major connection to original Oscar-winning film – WEIS

Paul Mescal, Denzel Washington And Pedro Pascal in a star Brand new trailer for Gladiator II A video released by Paramount Pictures on Monday revealed a significant connection Ridley Scott‘s original film.

In the new trailer, Macrinus, a wealthy arms dealer played by Washington, asks Lucius, played by Mescal, “Whose head can I give you to appease your anger?”

Lucius replies, “General enough,” and this sets the context for a duel between Lucius and Pascal’s character, Marcus Acacius, the general who destroyed Lucius’ adopted homeland and led to his enslavement.

“I will have my revenge,” says Lucius.

Connie Nielsenwho plays Lucius’ mother Lucilla, also appears in the trailer and drops this bombshell: Russell CroweHis character in the 2000 epic was his father.

“Lucius, take your father’s power. His name was Maximus, and I see it in you,” he says.

Although Lucius appeared as a child in the first film, it was obvious that Lucilla and Maximus had a past relationship, but it was never mentioned that Lucius was Maximus’ son.

Action-packed trailer Scott’s sequel also features rampaging rhinos, flashy Roman costumes, and a dramatic conversation between Macrinus and Lucius.

The film also stars the following actors: Joseph Quinn, Fred Hechinger, Derek Jacobi, Tim McInnerny, Alexander Karim, Rory McCann and more.

Gladiator II Coming to theaters on November 22.
