Don’t follow last month’s announcement the new one Google TV Streaming And Nest Learning ThermostatGoogle users have been waiting for the official launch of the streaming device that will replace the Chromecast. Now, Google has said that the Google TV Streamer will be hitting store shelves in physical and virtual form as of September 24.

The new Google TV Streamer reinvents Google’s Chromecast idea by transforming it from a dongle that sits behind or next to your TV into a desktop device that can be proudly displayed. The Google TV Streamer features the Nest aesthetic, with rounded corners and light, earthy colors that are eerily reminiscent of the sleek kit on the Nest Thermostat.

When Google announced its new TV streaming device, the company said it could also be used as a smart home hub, which is partly why it looks so different from the Chromecast and more like a hub. Now, Google has announced two new features for Google TV Streamer: updates to Google TV Freeplay and a Sports Page.

Google TV Freeplay is the company’s free channel offering, featuring 150 free, built-in channels that don’t require a subscription. Google has added a few more free channels and redesigned the Google TV Freeplay app to make it easier to browse by genre and topic via an updated channel guide.

Additionally, in the For You tab on Google TV, you can access a new Sports Page featuring content from your favorite sports teams. This new Sports Page will show personalized updates and recommendations, live and scheduled games, highlights from YouTube, and sports commentary.
