Community baby shower provides support for expectant mothers

HUNTINGTON, West Virginia (WSAZ) – Expectant mothers and their families attended a community baby shower on Saturday.

St. Mary’s Women and Family Care Center hosted the first community baby shower in Barboursville.

Expectant mothers were provided access to pediatricians, midwifery services, and other services that could assist new mothers.

Organizers say this is a great opportunity for people to see what resources are available in their community.

“Sometimes when you’re pregnant it can feel overwhelming, but you’re never alone. There’s a team, there’s a community. It takes a village to have a successful pregnancy,” said Dr. Allan Chamberlain, an OB-GYN with St. Mary’s Women & Family Care.
