iPhone 16 Pro’s touchscreen may become unresponsive

Millions of people have had their rights taken away iPhone 16 You can expect to see much more real-life usage testing for all four iPhone 16 models on Friday, with coverage that will extend far beyond what the initial reviews could offer.

Early adopters are also the most likely to discover any issues with the new devices. It appears that the iPhone 16 Pro and 16 Pro Max have a display issue that is affecting some people.

It appears that the iPhone 16 Pro touchscreen can become unresponsive at times. This will interfere with taps and swipes and definitely seems like an annoying issue. The good news is that this doesn’t appear to be a hardware issue. Instead, the screen may become very sensitive when multiple touches are registered. A software update could fix the bug in the future.

Interestingly, two signature features of the iPhone 16 Pro could be responsible for this: the ultra-thin bezels and the Camera Control button.

Accordingly 9to5MaciPhone 15 Pro owners have been complaining about touchscreen issues on social media. The blog was able to replicate the issue and speculates that it’s a software issue. The phone’s touch rejection algorithm may be too sensitive, which is why the phone is ignoring intended touches.

Some users have found that holding their fingers around the Camera Control button triggers the issue. If you’re holding the phone in your right hand while using it, you may unintentionally touch that area.

The ultra-thin bezels on the iPhone 16 Pro models may increase the risk of accidental touches while holding the screen. If an accidental touch is registered, the rest of the screen may become unresponsive.

Mastodon User Chaos Tian demonstrated the issue. The iPhone 16 Pro’s palm rejection algorithm kicks in when the screen is accidentally touched. The rest of the screen remains unresponsive after that. After removing your right hand from the screen, it registered touches again. Tried to trigger the same issue on an iPhone 13 mini, but the 2021 phone had no problems registering touches.

A Reddit The thread provides several examples of iPhone 16 Pro touchscreen issues. Some people have been able to trigger them even with a case, while others have found that a case provides additional protection. Additionally, the issue does not affect the phone when the screen is locked.

The touchscreen bug seems likely to affect right-handed iPhone users more. They may place their palm on the screen while scrolling with the same hand and find that the screen is unresponsive. Since I hold my smartphones in my left hand, I am less likely to trigger it. I didn’t buy one of the Pros this year, though. I opted for the iPhone 16 Plus instead and haven’t picked it up yet.

However, it is not yet known how many iPhone 16 Pro and 16 Pro Max users are experiencing this issue.

However, as far as we can see, there is no problem with the screen itself. Apple A software update will likely fix the touch algorithms in the coming weeks. Note that iOS 18.1 is due to be released in October to enable some Apple Intelligence features on the iPhone 15 Pros and all iPhone 16 models.
