Names of three people killed in Palisade crash released

GRAND JUNCTION, Colorado (KJCT) – The Mesa County Coroner’s Office has identified the people who lost their lives in a tragic rollover crash on Highway 6 in Palisade.

The following individuals were identified on Thursday:

The passenger in the Jeep Grand Cherokee was Kathi Wallace, 67, who lives in Mesa County.

Nathan Jones, 23, is a CDOT employee and Grand Junction resident. Nathan was a Transportation Maintenance specialist working in Grand Junction and a member of the CDOT Maintenance Apprenticeship Program.

Trenton Umberger, 43, is a CDOT employee and Grand Junction resident. Trent was a Transportation Maintenance specialist who worked in Grand Junction and Vail Pass.

The Colorado State Patrol is currently conducting the investigation.

Governor Jared Polis released the following statement regarding the accident:

“My heart goes out to the families of Trent Umberger and Nathan Jones, two dedicated maintenance workers with the Colorado Department of Transportation, and passenger Kathi Wallace, who lost their lives yesterday. This is a terrible tragedy, and while words cannot take away the pain of this moment for their loved ones, know that the state of Colorado mourns with them. In memory of this tragedy and loss, I will be lowering the flags to honor their lives and service.”
