EE Unveils 5G Standalone Network (5GSA) and Wi-Fi 7 for UK Homes

EE Unveils 5G Standalone Network (5GSA) and Wi-Fi 7 for UK Homes

EE has announced the launch of the UK’s newest mobile network, the 5G standalone network (5GSA), across fifteen major cities in the UK.

Building on BT Group’s decade of mobile leadership and supported by world-leading innovation, EE’s new 5G standalone network sets a new standard for connectivity and is available on a range of mobile phones and new plans.

EE also introduced the Smart Hub Pro and Smart WiFi Pro, enabling home broadband customers to be among the first in the world to benefit from the latest Wi-Fi standard, Wi-Fi 7. The new networks will provide EE customers with leading connectivity inside and outside the home.

5G delivers benefits to customers from day one, independently. The new network, the first of its kind in the UK and offering near-seamless outdoor coverage in every city it launches in, will allow customers to make calls and use data in areas not previously possible. This will also deliver better gaming and video streaming performance at some of the fastest speeds available on a mobile network.

EE’s 5G standalone network is also powered by the latest AI technology, which uses automation to improve reliability and machine learning to reduce energy demand on the Grid by putting mobile cells to sleep when not in use. Described as the backbone of many future services, EE’s 5G standalone network is designed to enable future AI applications to run smoothly, allowing them to seamlessly connect to the cloud to deliver the best experience.

Additionally, a new network feature will help improve performance in busy areas. Exclusive to some new tariffs, Network Boost will improve customers’ performance when the network is busy by allocating more capacity to them, meaning they always get the best performance available.

Two of the new EE plans launching today, All Rounder and Full Works, include 5G standalone and Network Boost.

EE is also bringing back EU Roaming for these plans, with calls, texts and data allowances included at no extra cost. Those on the Full Works plan will also get EE’s Roam Further Pass, extending these rights to Australia, the US, Canada, Mexico and New Zealand.

Following an exclusive partnership with Google and a global first, EE is also launching Google One AI Premium as part of EE’s Full Works product range. Google One AI Premium will help customers tackle their most complex projects with AI-powered tools.

EE has joined forces with Qualcomm Technologies to deliver globally leading speeds and performance for home WiFi with the new WiFi 7 Smart Hub Pro and Smart WiFi Pro, powered by Qualcomm’s Network Platforms. EE Full Fibre customers will be among the first in the world to experience WiFi 7, specifically designed to meet the growing demands of a connected home, meaning better cloud gaming, AR/VR and 4K/8K video streaming.

The new Smart Hub Pro and Smart Wi-Fi Pro will be available with selected EE Full Fibre packages and will also be available as add-ons to existing plans in the coming weeks.
