Kay’Ron Lynch-Adams of the Michigan State Spartans on coaches’ feedback

EAST LANSING, Michigan — Speaking to reporters Tuesday, Michigan State runner Kay’Ron Lynch-Adams explained his running style.

“I run with a lot of anger,” Lynch-Adams said. “I run for more than just myself. I just say that every time I go out and run the ball, run around, I know I’m running for more than just myself.”

Lynch-Adams utilized this running style in the Spartans’ 16-10 opening game against Florida Atlantic, racking up 101 yards and a touchdown on nine carries. Lynch-Adams was the lone bright spot in a relatively weak Spartans offense.

Starting rusher Nate Carter failed to create any havoc in the contest and the offensive line struggled at times, but every time Lynch-Adams carried the ball, things seemed to click. So how did the coaching staff respond to such a surprising performance from the signing?

“They just told me I did a good job. I wasn’t really expecting a lot of praise, I’m just here to play ball,” Lynch-Adams said. “So, I’m just going to keep doing what I can do, keep playing at a high level. They’ve definitely shown me some love.”

Lynch-Adams was a team player at the post-match press conference.

ā€œIā€™m happy to be able to contribute in a positive way and look forward to continuing to help the team win in any way I can,ā€ Lynch-Adams said. in question“It felt good to get out to Spartan Stadium and run a little bit.”

Lynch-Adams, who continued to be a team player after the game, helped junior point guard Aidan Chiles stay positive after struggling in his college debut.

“I texted him after the game. I just told him to keep his head up and everything,” Lynch-Adams said Tuesday. “I know he didn’t take it very well, but, I mean, it’s football. We don’t always play our best game, but I think it’s just keeping his confidence. … So, I told him he’s a leader, he’s got to lead us. He’s a quarterback, so we all believe in him and I let him know that we believe in you, that we trust you to get us where we want to go.”
