Sergio Perez Responds to Retirement Rumors with Funny Post

Formula 1 driver Sergio Perez has firmly denied the latest rumors regarding his retirement by making a bold statement via social media.

While speculation was once again circulating that Perez would announce his retirement from the race at home at the end of October, he shared a clip from the movie “The Wolf of Wall Street” and drowned out the chatter with the message “I’m not leaving.”

The Mexican driver’s position has been a hot topic of debate throughout the 2024 F1 season. After re-signing with Red Bull for the 2025 season, questions have been raised about his strength in the team, with his performance seeing a significant decline.

McLaren’s impressive performance worsened this situation and posed a threat to Red Bull’s World Constructors’ Championship ambitions.

Ahead of the Canadian Grand Prix in June, Perez re-signed with Red Bull with an option to continue until 2026. However, following this re-signing, his form dropped significantly and doubts were raised about his role in the team. The summer break has brought speculation that Daniel Ricciardo could potentially be a possible replacement.

Rumors of his imminent retirement have resurfaced following a report. F1 journalist Joe Saward said::

“One of the interesting rumors in Singapore was that Perez and Red Bull were working on a plan that would see him announce his retirement in Mexico, which would give him a smoother exit than being fired and would be less painful for Red Bull sales in America.”

“This will give Red Bull the chance to find a new driver in 2025. Despite their expensive young driver programmes, there is no one at Red Bull ready to join Max Verstappen. Maybe if Lawson really shines (Colapinto style) but Red Bull Everything Bull is shopping for for the future already exists.

“Christian Horner was talking about George Russell the other day because he won’t have a contract after the end of next year. There are still people who think Verstappen could move to Mercedes, but I think that’s the price he’ll ask. The price he gets for his services and the baggage he brings with him makes him less attractive than you think.” can make it happen.

“If it’s money, Aston Martin has shown that it will pay whatever it takes to get anyone and so the Max has to be seen as the next possible target, but unless it is convinced that the packages available in 2026 will work, it won’t go anywhere. More than Red Bull we will be fine.

“And we don’t know either. If you ask Red Bull, they seem very impressed with Oscar Piastri (as we all are) and see chinks in the Woking armour, because Oscar’s manager, Mark Webber, is close to Red Bull. He is intrigued by the question of how he can make two stars happy over the years.”
