Villa 2-2 Spurs | Robert’s verdict: “Shows good character.”

But with nine minutes remaining, as the fourth official indicated, we pressed on to equalise, and in the sixth minute of injury time, Bethany England earned a valuable point by scoring her first goal of the 2024/25 season, using Amanda Nilden’s cross. We are away in the Barclays Women’s Super League.

Speaking to SPURSPLAY after the match, Robert said: “I don’t think the performance was the best. When we had the ball we couldn’t keep the ball, we gave the ball away too easily and we needed to defend a bit.

“I have to say Aston Villa are a really good team, I think they’ve got some good players too, so it’s a tough away game and it’s a good sign of character to bounce back from the moment they scored those two goals. “Even if we’re not happy with the performance, it’s kind of a step forward.

“We have scored six goals in two games and we want to be a goalscoring team, this is an improvement on last season but also shows that we still have a lot to improve on. “We have a tough away day against a tough opponent and we are looking forward to taking four points from our first two games to get a point. “We did it, so we are in a better position than last season.”
