Man Utd 0-3 Tottenham: What did Ange Postecoglou say?

Tottenham boss Ange Postecoglou speaks to BBC Match of the Day after today’s victory: “I thought it was an outstanding performance. We started the game well, scored a great goal and probably should have scored two or three goals. Then the pressure overwhelmed them and they got a red card. I thought we controlled the game well afterwards. An outstanding effort from all the lads.”

Are you disappointed that you didn’t score more goals? “I don’t know what the disappointment is but I’m only human. It’s more for the players themselves. We played incredible football and you want them to get the rewards.”

On the red card: “I think it was a result of the way we were going in the game, putting a lot of pressure on them. The opportunities we were creating, we weren’t allowing them to get out of their own half. It was a very strong… round-robin performance.”

On scoring early goals in matches: “You want to start every game well but that doesn’t always happen. I told the lads in the last two games against Brentford we were beaten in the first 20 seconds and then a man was sent off in the first eight minutes. “It’s about dealing with what’s going on there.

“This is our fourth win in a row and we have won them in different ways, but we have always stayed true to our principles and the way we play football.”

On building momentum: “That helps. I think our performances in the league have been strong all year but we haven’t had that edge. Our performances have been good but when you get wins that’s important too, you want the players to think that it is.” “They are getting rewarded for their efforts.”
