Evacuations continue due to brush fires at Gila River Indian Community

Evacuations continue as a 415-acre brush fire burns in the Gila River Indian Community.

Officials say District 6 residents have been evacuated. Authorities say the level of control of the fire is zero.

Gila River Indian Community

According to the Gila River Indian Community’s website, 2,310 people live on the reservation. While it is not known exactly how many people were affected by the fire, officials say that no structures were affected.

Gila River Indian Community officials say anyone needing shelter can go to the District 7 Multi-Purpose Building.

It is unknown what started the fire.
