Get ready for the championship on Sunday

It’s unfortunate, but the most important issue for fantasy team managers is the least important for many major league managers. Last-minute lineup changes hurt our batting and pitching decisions, and the ones we do get right are often taken out of the game early.

There are a few very important matches in the National as the last two places have not yet been decided and may not be decided on Sunday. If that’s the case, the Atlanta Braves will host the New York Mets on Monday. If either or both are played, they will count in standard ESPN leagues.

Sunday’s big games include the Arizona Diamondbacks entertaining the San Diego Padres, the Mets visiting the Milwaukee Brewers and the Braves hosting the Kansas City Royals. Coincidentally, every team vying for a playoff spot is playing a club that has already received a postseason invitation. The Padres, Brewers and Royals are scheduled to open their respective Wild Card Series on Tuesday, so that probably won’t happen for nine innings if they play their regulars. Currently Royals LHP Cole Ragans He is listed as Sunday’s starter, but that will undoubtedly change with the Ragans saving for the Wild Card Round opener.

Another example of a pitcher who is likely to be scratched or whose outing is likely to be cut short is the Philadelphia Phillies RHP. Aaron Nola. The Phillies will open the NL Division Series next Saturday, and Nola will likely coach Game 2 the following Sunday. Therefore, he could take a few at-bats to stay sharp, but that could keep him out of the fantasy mix.

Everything you need to know for Sunday

As has been recent tradition, all 15 matches start between 3:05 PM and 3:20 PM ET. Be sure to check out this area on Sunday morning. Any changes announced on Saturday will be recorded in the pitch sheet and reviewed in the notes.

  • Two pitchers who probably won’t be scratched are Mets LHP david peterson (23.9% appeared in ESPN leagues) and Diamondbacks RHP Brandon Pfaadt (24.6% rostered) because they are both on the field for their team’s postseason future. As suggested, they will likely face a depleted roster, with the Brewers and Padres more concerned about starting the playoffs on Tuesday. Give Peterson the edge over Pfaadt, as the Brewers have trouble dealing with lefties even at full strength. However, Pfaadt is also in play as he will face a Padres lineup with several veterans who could get a break before Tuesday.

  • New York Yankees RHP Clark Schmidt (35.1%) is the top ranked publisher in the ledger. The Yankees have a first-round bye, so some of the regulars may only make a handful of appearances, but Schmidt needs to pitch with no restrictions. He lines up as the club’s fourth starter, so he won’t feature again for more than a week. Schmidt will face the Pittsburgh Pirates in September, whose offense allows the third-fewest points per game and is powered by a high strikeout rate.

  • Several spots listed after Tampa Bay Rays RHP after Schmidt Ryan Pepiot (45.6% rostered) Made his home debut against the Boston Red Sox. Both clubs are pulling the strings, and the Red Sox are likely sending RHP Quinn Priester to the mound because the club has both RHPs covered. Brayan Bello and R.H.P. Tanner Houck. Pepiot’s appeal is best for fantasy managers who need strikeouts. Pepiot had 137 hits in 126 frames, as the Red Sox were among the league leaders in hits all season long.

  • Next up are a pair of rookies taking on the San Francisco Giants RHP at Oracle Park Hayden Bird Song (6.0% staff) St. St. Louis Cardinals face RHP Michael McGreevy. Birdsong has the advantage by having more major league experience and being at home, but McGreevy is drawing a roster with a higher win rate, so deciding between the two is a matter of necessity. Birdsong is safer in terms of odds, while McGreevy has a higher upside.
