“I’m growing up safely and without pain”

“I’m growing up safely and without pain”

Nathan Aspinall has made a good start to the 2024 Swiss Darts Cup. ‘Asp’, who recently returned after a long break due to an arm injury, defeated home fans’ favorite Marcel Walpen 6-3 in the opening round. The 33-year-old Englishman will face top seed Dave Chisnall in the second round.

“I was playing against the host nation in the qualifiers but I had heard of him and he played really well in the qualifiers,” Aspinall enthuses. “I knew I had to play well and obviously it was a good game for me after my injury. The crowd were obviously cheering him on but I needed some pressure. To be fair he played well but I came here to do a job and now I’m looking forward to tomorrow.”

Aspinall will face Dave Chisnall in the next round, who has won two tournaments on the European Tour this year (Flanders Darts Trophy and European Darts Open).

“When the draw came out I texted him and said, ‘You’ve done well in the Euro Tour this year, don’t bother,’ but he said ‘no, I’m coming to Switzerland,'” Aspinall recalls. “He’ll still have to play well against me because my confidence is growing and I’m not in pain. I’ll be ready for it.”
