Cowboys’ win over Giants set NFL regular season broadcast record with 16.22 million viewers

LOS ANGELES (AP) — Dallas defeated New York Giants 20-15 Thursday night averaged 16.22 million viewers, according to Nielsen, making it the most-watched NFL regular-season game in history and Amazon Prime Video’s most-watched game since it took over the prime-time package exclusively in 2022.

Nielsen figures are the first numbers on the ratings panel. More comprehensive figures measuring set-top boxes, smart TVs and other streaming platforms will be released on Monday.

The Cowboys were among the two most watched games in the regular season. The previous rating was 15.26 million for the Cowboys’ 41-35 win over the Seattle Seahawks on Nov. 30, 2023, which was also a Thursday night Prime Video game.

Thursday night viewers reached 18.10 million in the second quarter, a record for Prime Video. Viewers in the second quarter of the Buffalo Bills-Miami Dolphins game two weeks ago narrowly surpassed 18.09 million.

For three weeks, “Thursday Night Football on Prime” averaged 14.88 million viewers, up 25% from last season.
