Collingdale police launch investigation after man shot dead in Collingdale Park

COLLINGDALE, Pennsylvania (WPVI) — Police are investigating a shooting that left a man dead in Collingdale, Delaware County, Thursday night.

The incident occurred at Collingdale Park near Jackson Boulevard and Hibberd Boulevard around 11:15 p.m.

Delaware County District Attorney Jack Stollsteimer said investigators are working to bring closure to everyone involved.

“Obviously this is a tragedy for that family and the entire community. Police immediately contacted county detectives. We are working hand in hand on this case,” Stollsteimer said.

The district attorney’s office said investigators have a few ideas about what led to the killing, but there is no concrete motive at this time.

“Hopefully we can get this done and get a little bit closer to this community,” Stollsteimer said.

Investigators say they have a person of interest.

Police did not identify the victim but said he was in his 20s.
