Jets’ Saleh honors Farmingdale’s Krumenacker

FLORHAM PARK, NJ — Jets coach Robert Saleh announced at the end of his pre-practice Friday that Farmingdale High School football coach Buddy Krumenacker is the coach of the week, becoming the second coach in Long Island high school football history to win for the 300th time. games.

Dalers beat Port Washington 14-6last Friday to give Krumenacker the breakthrough. Krumenacker, who graduated from Farmingdale in 1965 and has been the program’s head coach since 1993, has a career record of 300-101-11.

Krumenacker coached high school football on Long Island for 43 years, winning 223 games at Farmingdale and 77 at Hempstead. He joins Bethpage’s Howie Vogts as the only coaches to win 300 games.

The Dalers (2-0) will face Massapequa (2-1) in Nassau Conference I play on Saturday.

“We know Buddy Krumenacker from Farmingdale High School on Long Island,” said Saleh, who was wearing a Farmingdale Dalers T-shirt. “God bless you. I wish him and the entire football team success for the rest of the season.”

In addition to Saleh winning the coach of the week award, Krumenacker received a $1,000 donation to the football team and the Dalers were given an automatic bid to play in the Jets’ annual 11-ON tournament. The tournament consists of high school programs from Connecticut, New Jersey and New York competing in a 7-on-7 tournament.
