Despite being 1 gram lighter, the Meta Quest 3S is larger, and Meta says it’s only 20% thinner than the Quest 2, while the Quest 3 is 40% thinner, which will affect comfort.

The 3S also loses the Quest 3’s depth sensor, which means the fidelity of mixed reality experiences is slightly lower because the headset only has cameras and software to rely on.
