New developments in the latest assassination attempt on former President Donald Trump are drawing comparisons to the 2017 Las Vegas attack.

The allegations began this week when the son of Ryan Routh, who was arrested for allegedly attempting to assassinate Trump near his Florida golf course, came forward. was also arrestedHe is charged with possession of child sexual abuse material.

Law enforcement in North Carolina said they discovered “hundreds” of files containing illegal content during a search of Oran Routh’s home “in connection with an investigation unrelated to child abuse.” It remains unclear whether the search was related to the arrest of Oran’s father.

But some Trump supporters argue that Oran was framed as part of a larger conspiracy against the former president.

In comments on the pro-Trump message board Patriots.win, users noted that the brother of Stephen Paddock, who killed 58 people in Las Vegas, was also arrested for child abuse material.

Paddock’s brother, Bruce, has reportedly been on the law enforcement radar since 2014 after authorities found more than 600 explicit photos of young children at a facility where he was staying.

Police located Bruce after the incident and took him into custodyAlthough Bruce came to the attention of police long before the shooting, conspiracy theorists believe the similarities between Vegas and Florida are more than just coincidence.

The comparisons lead Oran to the following idea: spoke The government, which defended its father by saying he “wouldn’t do anything crazy,” should have silenced it, just as it did the Vegas shooter’s brother.

But the theory is missing one important fact. Bruce Paddock did not speak up to defend his brother. Another brother, Eric, did.

“Like the last Vegas shooters bro,” one user wrote on the message board. “Somehow the feds can’t catch anyone on their watch list. But after the fact they find 20 tbs of illegal porn like this.”

Others called Bruce and Oran government “crews” and argued that the government can never be trusted, even if they are building a case against someone who tried to assassinate Trump.

“When federal agents claim someone has child porn, don’t buy it. It’s the easiest thing to fake and they won’t show you any proof,” said another. “There are perverts in the world but federal agents have no interest in stopping them.”

The user falsely claimed that Bruce was arrested just one day after the incident.

“Remember when the Vegas shooter said it didn’t make sense for his brother to do that?” the user added. comments Made by Eric. “The next day Federal agents found CP on his computer and he absolutely shut up. NEVER TRUST THE FED.”

Not surprisingly, this claim was also common among conspiracy theorists about X.

“I know it’s easy to knee-jerk and say this is just leftists being perverted again, but the whole Ryan Routh situation is extremely suspicious and the feds are using CP to control people and keep them from opening their mouths,” said one user, Gigachad Brick. “It happened to the brother of the Vegas shooter too.”

It remains to be seen whether the conspiracy theory will spread further. So far, the imagined connection has not been highlighted by any prominent right-wing users.
