Monster Hunter Wilds Release Date Revealed During State of Play; New Monsters Revealed in Story Trailer

During Sony’s September 2024 State of Play livestream, Capcom showed off a new story trailer for Monster Hunter Wilds , but the big news was the reveal of the game’s release date: Monster Hunter Wilds is set for February 28, 2025, and will be available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.

From there, you build units within the Hunter’s Guild. You, as the hero, belong to the Avis Unit, and the characters featured in the trailer — hunter Olivia, biologist Erik, and engineer Werner — belong to the Astrum Unit. And that appears to be the lens through which you experience the story of Monster Hunters Wilds.

Scarlet Forest has been teased in previous trailers, but this latest trailer gives you a closer look at its lush environments, where you’ll be fishing, climbing cliffs, and of course, hunting monsters. Using a hook-like Slinger can cause contextual environmental destruction that can be a key part of combat. The Slinger can also launch you around the world as a means of passage, along with a Seikret pet mount.
