Capcom announces Monster Hunter Wilds release date in State of Play trailer

Capcom has emerged September 2024 Status and Monster Hunter Wilds has also brought a release date. Monster Hunter Wilds will be released on February 28, 2025 for PS5, PC via Steam, and Xbox Series X|S, with pre-orders for the digital versions now open.

In usual Monster Hunter fashion, you’ll get a few cosmetic pieces when you pre-order – this time, a Guild Knight set with a Hope Spell talisman to stick with you as you explore.

The Monster Hunter Wilds release date trailer is a big, cinematic thing that highlights the forests, rivers, and deserts of the new continent, with hammer-wielding Palicoes and even a look at MH Wilds’ flagship monster, The White Wraith. Capcom didn’t say for sure that this was the flagship monster, but in a Monster Hunter game, when you have a massive beast of legendary proportions that most people think of as reaching, it’s usually The Big One.

You can see the forests, called the Red Forest because of the red river that runs through them, and see how the weather changes the environment. The trailer starts with a storm swirling through the forest, but as it clears and the sun shines on the deceptively calm waters, it takes on a new atmosphere with the emergence of new creatures, including the forest’s big bad, Uth Duna, an ultimate hunter who commands the power of water.

You’ll have your trusty Palicoes on hand for support, which seems to range from collecting meat to distracting monsters to providing elemental healing. The grappling hook (no Wirebug this time around, sadly) also lets you grab onto objects in the environment to block or even ram enemies.

Capcom is speculated to have more new features planned ahead of Monster Hunter Wilds’ release date, including more monster reveals and hopefully more footage of those gorgeous landscapes.
