The Cape Fear Buddy Walk is held to support programs and services for the Down syndrome community

WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) – Coastal Bringing Up Down Syndrome is preparing to host the Cape Fear Buddy Walk fundraiser on Saturday, October 5th.

According to the event announcement, the event will take place from 9 a.m. to noon at Legion Stadium, 2149 Carolina Beach Road, with proceeds going to programs and services for individuals with Down syndrome and their families in the area.

“In the morning, there will be games, activities, performances, food trucks, and vendors from community organizations. The event will conclude with the crowd gathering for a walk around the stadium,” Coastal BUDS says.

Those who want to participate can register for free. HereDonations can also be made through the website.

“October is Down Syndrome Awareness Month and has been designated as a time to celebrate people with Down syndrome and raise awareness of their abilities and achievements. The organization expects more than five hundred people to come together for this year’s Buddy Walk celebration,” the announcement adds.
